Creative Writing: Poetry Style

This week's creative writing lesson was to write a paragraph of the Cactus Desert we have been reading about. We have been studying the poet's use of imagery in Looking-Glass River, by Robert Louis Stevenson. Here is what Caterpillar came up with!

Sweltering Cactus Desert

The sweltering heat of the blazing sun makes cactus country deadly. Menacing meerkats burrow and forage for survival along the sand dunes. In the chilly night air, the scorpion's stinger and rattlesnake's poisonous fangs seem like a nightmare for their prey. Beware of the desert's deadly dangers!
