Preparing Hearts for His Glory: Unit 5

Caterpillar and I have enjoyed another wonderful week with Heart of Dakota! In unit 5 we have studied the Egyptian civilization. It has been amazing to Caterpillar to see how much more modern they were than he expected. He was very impressed they had invented plows and wheels, as well as flushable toilets!

We read how the Egyptians believed in many other gods, and placed items in the sarcophagus with the mummies, for when their spirit came back to their body. Caterpillar remarked he was thankful that we know there is only One True God! Amen!

Here are some samples of his work.

A clay cartouche of the lady Pharaoh Hatshepsut written in hieroglyphic writing.

Caterpillar also completed a written narration about God's continued promise through Abram. Here is what he wrote.

A Covenant Through Abram

When God spoke to Abram, He told him to leave his country, his relatives and his father's house. Abram packed up his wife, servants and belongings and set off to a new land. He had no idea where he was going, but he believed God and obeyed. God continued his promise of the coming Saviour through Abram.

In science this week, we discovered more about the Cactus Desert. A saguaro cactus may grow as tall as 50 feet, and weigh as much as an elephant! Holes throughout the cactus are made by owls, fly catchers, spiders and many other animals for their homes.

It has been another precious week with Heart of Dakota watching Caterpillar grow in his knowledge and faith!

Great job! Where did you get the pics/info for your timeline? I had my daughter draw hers last year, but I think she would have liked this better.
