Why Joshua Tree Academy?

Before my husband and I had conceived, we did a study on the book of Joshua. The Lord spoke to me in volumes! I knew if we were to have a son... his name would be Joshua. I knew that the Lord wanted me to raise a strong man whose heart was for the Lord. One that would be a leader, and a follower, of Christ. One that would lead and do many great things, and be humble and obey the Lord's will. Just as Joshua 24:15 tells us, "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

The Joshua Tree was named as such for the way the tree points to the heavens, just as Joshua did in the Bible. He looked up praying to the Lord. It is our prayer to raise a godly man, who will always look to the Lord in prayer in all he does. Thus the name of our homeschool, Joshua Tree Academy.

Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon you hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them down on your doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6: 4-9

I have often been asked the question, "Why do you homeschool?" I can think of many reasons as to why, yet the verse above describes our reasons best. We homeschool because we have been called to do so by the Lord. For our family, homeschooling is a way of life.
