Why Fix It?

There is an old expression or idiom if you will...

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

My father used to say this, especially when his green thumb was working. Every year he had such a wonderful garden! It was chock full of delicious fresh vegetables! Yet occassionally, he would try a new method of doing something, and thus the expression would come out! What he had been doing worked, so why change it... he would say!

Well, recently I have found myself pondering the same reasoning! (Thanks Daddy for that wisdom!) I have been considering switching Math Curriculum next year. We love what we are using, Caterpillar is thriving and even working a grade level ahead. This particular program only goes to 6th grade, and we are currently working at grade level 4. In essence, I could use the program for two more years. There is part of me that is thinking, just make the switch now. While that may seem logical and simple, finding another option of equal or greater value has been less than simplistic! I have narrowed the choices down to two, yet neither quite fit the bill of where we currently are. After praying about this decision, the idiom struck me this morning!

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Yep, that's why we are sticking to R&S. I don't like to curriculum hop. We've used this math from the beginning and I hate to jump ship just because we hit a speedbump. Great post.

I'm enjoying your music also. ;-)
